Iain qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2010 with Hall Morrice, working initially within their accounts/audit function and laterally within the Business Advisory function. The last thirteen months there was spent on secondment at a local subsea services provider, covering monthly reporting and re-working the entire reporting process due to a move to Sage X3 ERP system.

Making the move into industry for a multi-national PE-backed acquisitive group in 2012 Iain continued working within monthly reporting but became involved in other areas: group audit, board paper preparation, treasury management, quarterly covenant review and assisting with financial due diligence work.

Iain subsequently spend 5.5 years at a new PE-backed offshore company, working with the new CFO to properly establish the finance function as the company expanded and covered all finance requirements. This time also involved initial creation of and continual improvements to internal processes (both across departments and via different internal systems), successful implementation of new finance ERP system (and follow-up automated consolidation), overseeing company’s taxation requirements, support to US setup, monthly cash flow forecasting and finance/tax due diligence work during various new investment/banking/re-finance exercises.

The last 18 months have been spent with another PE-backed offshore company. Whilst continuing to cover monthly reporting, weekly cashflow forecasting and annual audit, this role has involved an upgrade of the finance system used requiring a re-design of all financial reports in use and training to other users. More recently Iain spear-headed the successful roll-out of an automated purchasing system, working closely with the developer and other departments to scope this correctly and ensure it links to financial reporting.
