Craig’s career in accountancy began at Henderson Loggie, where he undertook his ICAS training contract as part of the firm’s audit team. During this time, he also delivered a number of guest lectures to 3rd year accounting students at the University of Dundee. Having qualified in the summer of 2020, Craig moved to PwC as a Senior Associate to give him exposure to larger client audits. His key area of focus was the oil and gas industry, and he gained notable experience working with overseas clients and colleagues, whilst assuming increased responsibility in respect of both the planning and management of client audit processes.
In April 2021, Craig left practice for his first industry role at Angus Soft Fruits. Initially employed as International Financial Analyst, he was promoted to the role of Group Management Accountant within 3 months. This role encompassed reporting responsibilities for the entire Group. Whilst undertaking the new challenge, Craig continued to hold responsibility for his analyst role, reporting KPIs and margins to management and leading weekly meetings with board members and other key stakeholders.
Whilst at Angus Soft Fruits, Craig volunteered to take on the Group consolidation, encompassing a number of foreign subsidiaries and associate entities. He worked collaboratively with auditors as part of this process to ensure the delivery of a technically accurate project. Further to this, Craig prepared a technical consolidation presentation which he delivered to his finance colleagues to assist their understanding of the process and the key deliverables required of them.
Craig joined the Hutcheon Mearns team in April 2022 and is based in our Dundee office. He has a passion for both problem solving and the opportunity to undertake a varied portfolio of assignments for clients.
