Andrew gained his ACCA qualification with EY in its Audit Department. During this time, he worked on a range of listed and private clients including a number of E&P businesses.
Following his time in practice, Andrew joined Total as a Senior Financial Accountant where he was responsible for quarterly group reporting under IFRS and preparing statutory accounts under UK GAAP. This role also involved providing detailed variance analysis to head office. Andrew led a project to convert the UK statutory accounts to FRS 101 following updates to reporting requirements. During his nine years with Total, Andrew gained a broad range of exposure to not only Corporate Reporting but also to management accounting, business analysis, modelling and SAP project work, continually progressing and developing new skills.
Andrew then took on a Technical Accounting position with BrewDog, providing technical guidance on specific accounting issues relating to acquisitions, JV agreements, sale and leaseback and IFRS15 changes. He assisted in designing a budget template for subsidiaries, five-year plan setting and quarterly consolidation reporting. He also carried out contract work for both Total and Eland preparing consolidated interim financial statements, implementing IFRS 16 and preparing DD&A, decommissioning, production analysis and tax models.
Most recently Andrew was a Financial Reporting Accountant for DNO where he was responsible for monthly reporting and analysis to head office (including calculation of DD&A, ARO and tax with a focus on streamlining and building integrity into the process. He prepared the consolidated group and subsidiary statutory accounts and was the key point of contact for the Auditors.
